EXTENSION PROGRAMME
- Agroforestry based farming research for managing Barne Nala Watershed landscape
was conducted under different practices of Agrisilviculture system and suitable
tree species viz; Babul, Subabul, Eucalyptus, Safedsiris and Australian babul have
been identified for growing under the aforesaid system of Agroforestry.
- Rainwater harvesting structure constructed under Barne Nala watershed research project.
It raised ground water table by 20 cm in the downstream.
- Training were organized by the Department of Forestry so as to impart education,
on the various techniques of agroforestry system, to the farmers of Kymore and Satpura
plateau of M.P.
- Two master traning programmes, on the transfer of agro forestry technologies, were
organized by the department for the Jr. Scientist/Asstt. Prof. of agricultural
universities. Forestry department displayed exhibits during Kisan Mela to create
the awareness about technologies generated in agroforestry systems/forestry.

Demonstrations were conducted under the Tribal Sub Plan (TSP), to validate the findings
of Agrisilviculture and planting of Agrihorticulture practices on the farming floor
of tribal inhabitants of Jabalpur district and adjoining villages.
- Agroforestry tree planting and tree management techniques and Kishan nursery techniques
have been transferred among the farming communities of Barne Nala Watershed village
through participatory research.
- Plants of bamboo provided to the farmers for the prevention of soil erosion and
for an additional income to the tribal people moreover plants of kagji lime and
seedless lime both were also provided by the department.
- During summer season two days farmer and farm women’s training programme was organized
for the motivation to adopt the Agro forestry system, provided seeds of green and
pigeon pea to grow as intercropping system to the tribal people.

Activities

- New operational area of the project for the improvement of infrastructure facilities
drip system is proposed on selected farmer’s field.
